First Setup Checklist

Use this checklist to configure the essential settings for your Edpro store. Complete these steps after installation to get your store ready for customers.

Essential Setup (Do First)

Where: Theme Editor → Header section

  1. Open the theme editor
  2. Click on Header in the left sidebar
  3. Upload your logo image
  4. Adjust logo height for mobile and desktop
  5. Set logo position (left, center, or right)

Recommended: Upload a logo at least 200px wide for crisp display.

✅ 2. Set Up Navigation

Where: Shopify Admin → Online Store → Navigation

  1. Edit your Main menu with your key pages
  2. Create a Footer menu for secondary links
  3. Organize dropdown menus for categories

Tip: Keep your main navigation to 5-7 items for best usability.

✅ 3. Configure Brand Colors

Where: Theme Editor → Theme settings → Design system → Colors

  1. Set your primary brand colors (Color 1-6)
  2. Adjust secondary colors as needed
  3. Preview how colors appear across your store

✅ 4. Choose Typography

Where: Theme Editor → Theme settings → Design system → Typefaces

  1. Select a Title font for headings
  2. Select a Body font for text content
  3. Optionally set Accent and Subtitle fonts
  4. Adjust heading sizes (H1-H6)

✅ 5. Set Up Footer

Where: Theme Editor → Footer section

  1. Add footer blocks for links, newsletter, etc.
  2. Configure your newsletter signup form
  3. Add social media links
  4. Add payment icons

Home Page Setup

✅ 6. Create Your Hero Section

Where: Theme Editor → Home page → Add section → Main Hero Slider

  1. Add a hero slider or banner section
  2. Upload high-quality hero images
  3. Add compelling headline text
  4. Add a call-to-action button

Recommended: Use images at least 1920px wide.

✅ 7. Feature Your Products

Where: Theme Editor → Home page

Add sections to showcase products:

  • Product Display - Feature products from a collection
  • Collections Slider - Highlight multiple collections
  • Shop the Look - Create curated product sets

✅ 8. Add Trust Elements

Where: Theme Editor → Home page

Consider adding:

  • Reassurance section - Shipping, returns, guarantees
  • Reviews section - Customer testimonials
  • Brand Content - Your story and values

Product Page Setup

✅ 9. Configure Product Information

Where: Theme Editor → Products → Default product

  1. Open the Product section
  2. Add blocks for: title, price, variants, description
  3. Add product form with quantity and buy button
  4. Configure upsells and recommendations

✅ 10. Set Up Product Badges

Where: Theme Editor → Theme settings → Product badges

  1. Enable New arrival badge and set days threshold
  2. Configure Sale badge appearance
  3. Choose badge priority (new vs. sale first)
  4. Set maximum number of badges

Cart Setup

✅ 11. Configure Cart Drawer

Where: Theme Editor → Sections → Cart Drawer (in modals group)

  1. Enable or customize progress indicator
  2. Configure product recommendations
  3. Add payment icons
  4. Customize the checkout button

Final Steps

✅ 12. Test Your Store

Before going live:

  1. Preview on mobile - Check all pages on small screens
  2. Test checkout - Complete a test order
  3. Check forms - Test newsletter signup and contact forms
  4. Review product pages - Ensure variants and prices display correctly
  5. Test search - Verify search results are relevant

✅ 13. Publish Your Theme

When everything looks good:

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes
  2. On Edpro, click Actions → Publish
  3. Confirm the publish action

Post-Launch Checklist

After publishing, consider:

  • Set up email notifications
  • Configure shipping rates
  • Add legal pages (Privacy Policy, Terms of Service)
  • Connect analytics (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel)
  • Test on multiple devices and browsers
