Solutions to common issues with the Edpro theme.

Before You Begin

Try these quick fixes first:

  1. Clear browser cache - Press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
  2. Try incognito mode - Rules out browser extensions
  3. Check on another device - Confirms if issue is device-specific
  4. Disable apps temporarily - Identifies app conflicts

Display Issues

Theme looks broken or unstyled

Symptoms: Missing colors, fonts, or layout issues

Solutions:

  1. Clear your browser cache
  2. Check for JavaScript errors in browser console (F12 → Console)
  3. Ensure you’re viewing the published theme
  4. Check if any apps are injecting conflicting CSS

Images not loading

Symptoms: Blank spaces where images should be, broken image icons

Solutions:

  1. Check image file size (keep under 20MB per image)
  2. Ensure images are in supported formats (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP)
  3. Re-upload the images through the theme editor
  4. Check your internet connection

Content appears differently than expected

Symptoms: Wrong colors, fonts, or layout

Solutions:

  1. Verify you’re editing the correct page template
  2. Check theme settings for global overrides
  3. Look for section-specific settings that may override globals
  4. Clear browser cache

Mobile layout issues

Symptoms: Content overlapping, elements too large/small on mobile

Solutions:

  1. Preview in theme editor’s mobile view
  2. Check section settings for mobile-specific options
  3. Ensure images have appropriate sizes
  4. Contact support if layout is broken

Functionality Issues

Cart drawer not opening

Symptoms: Clicking cart icon does nothing

Solutions:

  1. Check browser console for JavaScript errors
  2. Verify Cart Drawer section is in the Modals group
  3. Disable apps one by one to find conflicts
  4. Ensure no JavaScript blocking errors

Add to cart not working

Symptoms: Button click does nothing, or shows error

Solutions:

  1. Verify product is in stock
  2. Check if all required variant options are selected
  3. Look for JavaScript errors in browser console
  4. Test in incognito mode to rule out caching

Search not returning results

Symptoms: No results appear, or wrong results

Solutions:

  1. Verify products are published
  2. Check products have titles and descriptions
  3. Wait a few minutes for search index to update
  4. Test with simple, common search terms

Symptoms: Menu items missing, dropdown not working

Solutions:

  1. Check Navigation settings in Shopify Admin
  2. Verify Main Menu is properly configured
  3. Ensure menu items link to valid pages
  4. Check header section is properly configured

Forms not submitting

Symptoms: Newsletter, contact forms don’t submit

Solutions:

  1. Check for required fields that are empty
  2. Look for validation error messages
  3. Ensure email format is correct
  4. Check browser console for errors

Product Issues

Products not appearing in collections

Symptoms: Empty collection pages, missing products

Solutions:

  1. Verify products are published to Online Store
  2. Check collection conditions match products
  3. Ensure products are in stock (if filtering by availability)
  4. Wait a few minutes for changes to sync

Variants not displaying correctly

Symptoms: Missing options, wrong variants shown

Solutions:

  1. Verify variant options in Shopify Admin → Products
  2. Check maximum variant limit (100 per product)
  3. Ensure variant names are properly set
  4. Look for JavaScript errors blocking the selector

Product ratings not showing

Symptoms: No stars visible on product cards

Solutions:

  1. Enable ratings in Theme settings → Product cards
  2. Verify metafield paths match your review app
  3. Ensure products have rating data
  4. Check that review app is properly installed

Color swatches not appearing

Symptoms: No swatch options on product cards

Solutions:

  1. Verify products have a “Color” variant option
  2. Check swatches are enabled in theme settings
  3. Ensure swatch images are configured (if using images)
  4. Look for CSS conflicts hiding the swatches

Performance Issues

Pages loading slowly

Symptoms: Long loading times, slow interactions

Solutions:

  1. Optimize images - Keep under 500KB each
  2. Reduce sections - Remove unused sections
  3. Audit apps - Disable unnecessary apps
  4. Check third-party scripts - Some apps add heavy scripts

Images loading slowly

Symptoms: Images take a long time to appear

Solutions:

  1. Optimize image file sizes (use TinyPNG or similar)
  2. Use WebP format for faster loading
  3. Ensure lazy loading is working (built into theme)
  4. Reduce number of images per page

Animations stuttering

Symptoms: Jerky scrolling, choppy animations

Solutions:

  1. Close other browser tabs
  2. Try a different browser
  3. Check device performance (older devices may struggle)
  4. Reduce the number of animated elements

Editor Issues

Changes not saving

Symptoms: Lost work, settings reverting

Solutions:

  1. Look for error messages in the editor
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Try a different browser
  4. Save smaller changes more frequently

Section missing from Add section menu

Symptoms: Can’t find a section to add

Solutions:

  1. Check if section is already added (some have limits)
  2. Verify you’re on the correct page type
  3. Some sections are restricted to specific templates
  4. Check section groups (header, footer, modals)

Preview not updating

Symptoms: Changes don’t appear in the preview pane

Solutions:

  1. Wait a moment for preview to refresh
  2. Click the refresh button in the preview
  3. Hard refresh your browser
  4. Try a different browser

App Conflicts

Theme looks broken after installing an app

Symptoms: Layout issues, missing styles after app installation

Solutions:

  1. Disable the app to confirm it’s the cause
  2. Contact app developer for theme compatibility
  3. Check if app requires theme modifications
  4. Look for app-specific styling options

App widgets not appearing

Symptoms: App content missing from theme

Solutions:

  1. Follow app’s installation instructions
  2. Check if app requires manual theme integration
  3. Verify app is enabled for Online Store channel
  4. Contact app support for theme-specific guidance
